Nothing is preparing to launch its mid-range smartphones, Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Plus, in Q1 2024, with a likely release in March. Alongside these, the sub-brand’s CMF Phone (2) is expected to debut around the same time. A recent report has revealed exciting details about the processors, cameras, and features of these budget-friendly and mid-range devices.

According to the report, the specifications are based on clues found in the latest Nothing OS 3.0, built on Android 15. The codenames for the devices are “asteroids” for the Nothing Phone (3a), “asteroids_plus” for the Phone (3a) Plus, and “galaga” for the CMF Phone (2).
The Nothing Phone (3a) will introduce a telephoto camera, while the Phone (3a) Plus will feature a periscope zoom camera. This marks a significant upgrade for Nothing smartphones, as it brings dedicated zoom capabilities to the lineup for the first time. Previously, Nothing phones were limited to dual-camera setups with 50MP main and ultra-wide lenses.
On the performance front, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Plus are expected to feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, delivering enhanced performance. Meanwhile, the CMF Phone (2) will likely stick to a MediaTek processor, staying true to its budget-friendly approach.
A standout addition to the series is eSIM support on the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Plus, offering users the option of an eSIM with a physical nano-SIM or a dual nano-SIM setup. However, the CMF Phone (2) is expected to retain the traditional physical SIM configuration, without eSIM functionality.
