Samsung hasn’t made major changes to the main camera on its top-end Ultra flagship phones in recent years. The current Galaxy S25 Ultra uses the same 200MP HP2 sensor that was also seen in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Now, early leaks suggest that the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will continue with the same 200MP main sensor — but this time with a significant upgrade in the camera’s aperture.

Popular tipster Ice Universe revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature an HP2+ sensor with a larger aperture for its 200MP main camera. This change is expected to allow more light into the sensor, improve low-light photo quality, and address several existing issues. It may also lead to faster shutter speeds. According to the tipster, this could be the most noticeable camera upgrade since the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Ice Universe also shared on Weibo that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will retain the 50MP 5x telephoto camera, but with a wider aperture for enhanced zoom photography.
The tipster further mentioned that the S26 Ultra will stick with the same 5000mAh battery, but Samsung may boost charging speeds — possibly increasing to 60W fast charging, up from 45W on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S26 series is also expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy, built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process, and running at a peak frequency of 4.74GHz.
